Jagran Lakecity University's Annual Awards 2018-19



Jagran Lakecity University organized JLU Annual Award 2019 on 24th April 2019 in which Lokayukta of Madhya Pradesh Hon'ble Justice Naresh Gupta was the Chief Guest. Students and faculty members were awarded for their contribution in various categories.   Jagran Lakecity University was founded in 2013 and has been a frontrunner in changing the landscape of higher education in the state. The institution was recently awarded “University of the Year 2019” at an event organized in the state capital by FMPCCI wherein Hon’ble Chief Minister presented the award to Chancellor of JLU, Shri. Hari Mohan Gupta.




In a recent survey done by a New Delhi based agency ‘Great Place to Study’, Jagran Lakecity University was recognized among ‘Great Indian Institutions 2019’.


Chief Guest of the Award Ceremony Hon'ble Justice Naresh Gupta Praised JLU for providing Skill-based education to its students and motivated students gathering to imbibe positive attitude, self-belief and work towards the betterment of the country. He was delighted to visit the campus of JLU which he opined to have world-class infrastructure.


Shri Hari Mohan Gupta, Chancellor, Jagran Lakecity University shared his thoughts by citing examples from Shrimad Bhagwat Gita. “You should put forward your best foot in whatever journey you take in your career. No one should ever worry about the results. One also needs to remain calm in all the situations, whether good or bad” said Shri Gupta addressing the audience and encouraging the students to do well in life.

Jagran Lakecity University has awarded scholarship worth Rs 30.16 lakh for 2018-19 session. 43 students from different courses were awarded the prestigious Chancellor's Scholarship & Freeship, Academic excellence, Sports scholarship based on their exceptional consistent performance in academics and sports. Also, 50 students were awarded Marker Cup for their outstanding performance in academics in the past year. Faculty members were also awarded the Excellence in Research for their contribution in the field of Research.

Colourful cultural performances, music and drama were presented by students and faculty of the University, which showcased depth of excellence in performing arts at the University.

JLU's Research Cell hosts 3 Days Workshop on 'Data Analysis in SPSS'



Jagran Lakecity University’s Research Cell Bhopal organized a three days workshop on Statistical Methods and Data Analysis Using SPSS in Research. In the Inaugural Session, it was a matter of utmost pleasure for the University to have Prof. R.J Rao, Vice Chancellor of Barkatullah University. His interaction with the participants of the workshop, he laid emphasis on various statistical tools to be used while writing a thesis and the work should be unique as well as free of plagiarism. He even laid stress on making researchers help one another, be it in the same or different field.


SPSS is a windows based program, which can be used to perform data entry analysis. The workshop is designed to orient faculties and researchers in data analysis and programming from basic to advanced level which will equip them with data analysis skills. With the training of SPSS, participants will produce the best quality research identifying the right statistical tools and techniques for different research objectives and to carry out data analysis using SPSS.
Prof. (Dr.) Anoop Swarup, Hon’ble Vice- Chancellor of JLU interacted with the researcher and congratulated the JLU Research Cell for maintaining high standards of research. He shared his views on various PhD regimes in India and also mentioned the various challenges and opportunities in the field of research, and to help researchers conduct research in an accurate and meaningful way, statistical tools should be chosen very carefully. 


External Expert and Quantitative Analysts, Dr. Abhishek Sachan gave his valuable insights on SPSS and exercised the statistical methods with examples. Prof. (Dr.) Vinay Joshi Director of JLU Research cell interacted with the researchers and shared his views on the importance of SPSS and other Statistical Tools. He also shared that in this era of knowledge, good quality research will automatically open the new avenues for a research student.

JLU hosts ‘Right to Information in light of latest Supreme Court Judgements’



Jagran Lakecity University, School of Law in collaboration with Suchna ka Adhikar Andolan organized a session ‘Right to Information in light of latest Supreme Court Judgements’. Noted RTI Activists Ms. Anjali Bhardwaj, Ms. Amrita Johri and Mr. Ajay Dubey and Associate Professor of NLIU Bhopal Dr. Raka Arya were the eminent speakers in the session. Resource persons focused on contemporary issues and challenges pertaining to the right to information under the constitutional mandate and the Right to Information Act (RTI), 2005 vis-à-vis latest Supreme Court Judgments.



Dr. Raka Arya set the theme of the lecture series by sharing some key points relating to the right to information in the Indian political set-up. Dean Student Welfare and Director of JLU School of Law Prof. (Dr.) Yogendra Srivastava reminded students that how Indian Judiciary through its judgements acknowledges the right to information as a fundamental right.


Ms. Anjali Bhardwaj shared her extensive experience and practical dimensions of the exercise of the right to information in the Indian governmental fabric. She addressed inefficiencies of the RTI functionaries in the country and threw light on the struggles faced by the citizens due to the same.


Ms. Amrita Johri, adding to the deliberation put forth by Ms. Bhardwaj, delved deep into the practicalities of RTI litigation in the country. She also asserted that the right to information is the cornerstone of any successful democracy and denial of such right leads to gross injustice.


Concluding the enlightening lecture series, Shri Ajay Dubey motivate young law students to research on the contemporary issues pertaining to the right to information and take it upon themselves to remove the wide gap that has been created between the people and the government particularly in the domain of furnishing to the public information relating to governance.

JLU Hosts Two-Day Advance Level Workshop on “Biodiversity Law and ABS


Jagran Lakecity University organized a two-day #Advance Level Workshop on “Biodiversity Law and ABS” on 12th & 13th April 2019 as a follow up to the one done in January 2019 under the UNDP-GEF (Global ABS Project). This was done in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) and National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru.


Prof. (Dr.) M.K Ramesh, Professor, NLSIU, Bengaluru was the Chief Guest while Prof.(Dr.) Sairam Bhat, Professor & Coordinator, CEERA, NLSIU, Bengaluru was the Guest of Honour in the inaugural session. Ms. Madhubanti Sadhya, Research Associate, NLSIU and Mr. Rohit Kamath, Research Scholar, NLSIU delivered the keynote addresses. The valedictory session was graced by Justice (Retd.) Shri N.K Jain, Former Judge, M.P High Court.



Renowned field experts, practitioners, policymakers, researchers and academicians from across India attended the workshop and deliberated their experiences. The resource person for this Advance level workshop was Prof. (Dr.) Sairam Bhat, Professor & Coordinator, CEERA, NLSIU, Bengaluru, His session began with stressing emphasis upon the need for Biological Diversity Act which was an appreciable move from defensive protection to establishing legal entitlement of rights for Traditional Knowledge. 



Session I: Significance, History, Background and Introduction to The Concepts And Principles Of Conservation Of Biological Diversity In India
The resource person for this session was Prof. (Dr.) Sairam Bhat, Professor & Coordinator, CEERA, NLSIU, Bengaluru, His session began with stressing emphasis upon the need for Biological Diversity Act which was an appreciable move from defensive protection to establishing legal entitlement of rights for Traditional Knowledge. He further discussed the increase in the number of cases filed under the Biodiversity Act in India from 2004 to 2016. Moving ahead Prof. Bhat also brought in light the historical development of Access Benefit Sharing system in India by narrating the story of Kani Tribe. Lastly, this session was concluded by discussing the importance of Access Benefit Sharing System (ABS) even in the present era. According to him one of the most important reasons for developing the ABS system is to acknowledge the efforts put in by the indigenous community in preserving the biodiversity and sharing the beneficial uses of plants and animals.


Session II: Biological Diversity Act, 2002: An Overview
The resource person for this session was Prof. (Dr.) Sairam Bhat, Professor & Coordinator, CEERA, NLSIU, Bengaluru. This session of Prof. Bhat was solely for the purpose of presenting an overview of the legislation that deals with the protection of biodiversity in India i.e. the Biological Diversity Act, 2002. He began the session by addressing the various authorities constituted under the Act which includes the National Biodiversity Authority, State Biodiversity Authority and Biodiversity Management Committee. He also discussed the relevant provisions as to what matters can be referred to these boards. Moving ahead he discussed the procedure of getting approval from National Biodiversity Authority in case an application is referred to them for getting approval. Lastly, his session was concluded by shedding light upon the activities that are covered under the Biological Diversity Act and the exemptions provided therein.

MoU signing between Jagran Lakecity University and Global Education Management Services, UK

Paving the road to success, JLU School of Hospitality and Tourism signed an MoU with Global Education Management Services (GEMS), UK. Striving excellence, this MoU shall provide students to get International favour of Hospitality Industry, cultural exchange and practical training along with student exchange and internship opportunities. Having placed 4 of our students for Industrial Training in France through GEMS, #SOHT marks this as a milestone achieved.

Placements 2019


The placement season 2019 at Jagran Lakecity University saw an array of companies lining at the University campus to hire fresh graduates. The talking point was the placements at Jagran Lakecity Business School wherein many top companies made offers to the students of the graduating batch. Among those who made several offers were Yash Technologies, BYJU’s, CureFit, Apollo Munich, S&P Global Market Intelligence, INC42, ICICI Bank, DCB Bank, ICICI Lombard, HDFC Bank and others. The highest package offered this year was INR 9 Lakhs per annum and average package turned out to be INR 4.10 Lakhs per annum.

In the meanwhile companies like Internshala, Concept PR, Nucleus PR, Greenroom, The Times of India, Network 18, ETV Bharat, India TV etc. hired the freshers from Jagran School of Journalism & Communication. The recruiters were all praises for the students at JSJC and even offered internships to the students who will be going into the final year in next semester. The praise came as no surprise since the students of JSJC receive practical training in Advertising, PR & Journalism at the state-of-the-art 20,000 sqft Shri. Gurudev Gupta Media Studios throughout their study period at the University. The highest package offered while this news going for publishing was INR 5 Lakhs per annum. The placements at JSJC are still in process and many more companies are supposed to visit the campus over the next few weeks.

The students of JLU School of Hospitality & Tourism were the rejoicing ones as each student had at least 2 offers in hand. The top hotel chains of India visited the School to recruit the hospitality students. The Oberoi Rajvilas, The Leela Palace, Taj Falaknuma, Radisson Blu, Sheraton, Sarovar Portico, Marriott, Jaypee Palace, Crowne Plaza, ITC Rajputana, JW Marriott etc. recruited students for full-time positions as well as offered internships to them. 4 students of JLU School of Hospitality & Tourism are also currently interning in France.
