"Reflection on my Internship experience & the lessons I learnt", Aadya Jaroliya, B.A LL.B (Hons) VI Semester, JLU School of Law.

I’m pleased to share that this experience expanded the foundation of my ambitions. The practicalities of a law firm, the education required, and the etiquette that should always be displayed were a couple of the things that I learned. Most importantly, in this position, my lifelong goals were affirmed.

Working under honourable Chief Justice Hemant Gupta in Principle Seat of Madhya Pradesh High Court enabled me to understand various aspects of being a successful judge as well as an advocate. The first thing I realized was the trick of communicating things to others. Whereas on the other hand I also played the role of multi-tasker and there I met with the pros and cons of working with my court seniors. Accepting that I faltered while performing a few of my duties, regardless my seniors apprised me with the art of getting work done in court. It's not just about working hard but rather working smart.

On the last day of my internship, I was honoured to meet Justice Hemant Gupta, as I was under his surveillance. He appreciated my work and also admonished for my errors. He marked his meeting by saying, "Every case has a different experience. It's all about what you learn from it and how you deal with it." I recollect his words whenever I start working on a new case.

Talking about professional endeavour this experience prepared me in a number of ways from court etiquette to working on a deadline and gaining knowledge from hands-on training and plenty more. I have learnt how a court of Chief Justice operates, who oversees what and how to network with different departments.

Finally, I would like to share with aspiring interns that always be passionate about the work you've been assigned. Make sure to be calm and composed while meeting the deadlines. Keep a positive attitude and be pleasant while greeting. Do not hesitate to raise a question or voice your opinion because it will show your willingness to learn and adapt.

SAP University Summit Goa 2018: It's time to evolve and compete globally!

The world is changing enormously especially in digital and education still has a big step to jump. We need to rethink the workspaces, the classrooms. Foster collaboration, interaction, exchange of ideas, work autonomously initiative, has access to personalized courses. These tools are used to promote creativity, through increasingly ultra-portable products. With all these means, education is undoubtedly the most important thing in this world. It is also one of the sectors that need innovation the most.

With this vision, Mr Dileep Kumar Singh, Assistant Professor, JLU School of Engineering & Technology, participated in the SAP University Summit 2018, held on 27th to 29th November-2018at Taj Fort Aguada, Goa organized by SAP India Pvt limited. The event focused on the digital transformation in the education space with the collaboration of the SAP, Wipro and the Times professional learning.

The event supported the concept of “imagining a workforce with unstoppable momentum”, meaning the best of human creativity and flexibility, in partnership with the power and depth of digital workforce technology. SAP’s global products and solutions, enable and help many universities to execute and deliver their mission successfully.

Mr Dileep had a positive conversation with Mehroon Manalody Chairman and Managing Director of G-Tech on latest trends and new job opportunities along with challenges on adoption of SAP framework on new business processes and startups. He had also got chance to interact with G. Chandra Mouleeswaran, Head – Strategic Learning Services, SAP Education, along with Mr.Rohit Bhalla working as a Sales Director of SAP India Pvt. Ltd. and with Mr Aaditya Razdan positioned as National sales Head SAP.  

Faculty Development Program for JLU School of Law by Prof. (Dr.) Ranbir Singh, VC, NLU.

On 2nd December 2018, the faculty of JLU School of Law had the privilege of hosting Prof. (Dr.) Ranbir Singh, Vice Chancellor, NLU, Delhi and a doyen of Indian legal education, as a resource person of an enriching faculty development program after he was admitted to the alumni of Jagran Lakecity University as he was awarded Honorary Doctorate (Honoris Causa) at the 4th Convocation Ceremony.

In his session, Prof. Singh focused on the need for enhancement programs for law faculty such as workshops, seminars, training sessions, FDP’s, etc. He stated that perpetual growth is a must in the field of academics. Furthermore, he acquired inputs from the faculty members regarding assurance of quality in legal education in the country and emphasized the fact that growth of any institution depends on its assessment of local competition and its capability of thriving on the weakness of others.

While sharing his vast knowledge in the field of legal research and legal education, he asserted that creating intellectual resources should be the priority for any educational institute and that the faculty should work efficiently to produce research of refined quality. He also emphasized the pertinence of team-work in any arena of life while pointing out that the element of team-work is comparatively of poor quality in our country and it is the duty of the young academicians to work on the same.

Prof. (Dr.) Singh also highlighted the fact that it is extremely important to assess our capacity and specialty before embarking on any endeavour. It was indeed a comprehensively enlightening session for the entire faculty at JLU School of Law. We express heartfelt gratitude to Prof. (Dr.) Ranbir Singh for his invaluable time and hope for our fruitful association with him.  

Memoirs 2018: JLU 3rd Alumni Meet.

It all comes down to those days of college packed with emotion & excitement when nostalgia strikes hard. Between get-togethers for birthdays or no reason at all, that reserved spot at the cafeteria and the ridiculous conversations to be had there, from sarcastic insults to witty puns. The great late-night parties, friendships we lived for, the music we played, driving around the city on Friday nights and barely making it on time to the first lecture on Monday. We did it all. We lived college. And at reunions those memories are crystal-clear.

Jagran Lakecity University Alumni Association organized the 3rd Alumni Meet at Sayaji Bhopal on Sunday, December 02 2018, in its endeavour to help students network better and celebrate the milestone of 400+ graduates.

JLU’s 3rd Alumni Meet saw hundreds of graduates meet and network with each other, enacting the anecdotes of mischief & discipline while reminiscing the good old days. Other highlights of the event included meet & greet with Dean & Directors, a photo-booth corner and a concert-style live performance by the band Vivek Singh Live.

The concert was followed by an ecstatic dance session where Alumni swayed to the trendy beats with their friends and batchmates, recreating & cherishing the memories of the University life.  It was a sight to behold, watching old friends reconnect and laugh, filled with nostalgia.

The event concluded with a mouth-watering dinner buffet which catered to cuisine rich menu and savouring bites, leaving the alumni satiated with the feeling of tranquillity.

Au revoir class of 2018: Convocation ceremony at Jagran Lakecity University

The time has arrived for the newly graduates to pack their bags and move on with their lives, reaching out for dreams and fulfilling goals. Somewhere between marking proxy, submitting assignments on deadlines, competing for ranks and sugar coating professors, everyone grew. The good, the bad and the ridiculous of moments are stories now. Stories that will be continued to reminisce the good old days of college.

It is time to venerate the years of tough grind embedded by the students and teachers of Jagran Lakecity University, it’s time to take out the robes and hats, its Convocation! The fourth Convocation ceremony at JLU Bhopal for the class of 2018 held on 2nd December was a heart-warming affair when the once freshmen lay robe accoutred to receive their degrees. A total of 73 postgraduate degrees, 338 undergraduate degrees and 1 PhD were awarded to the students signifying the incipience of a new phase of life.

The University bestowed Honoris Causa to Prof (Dr) Ranbir Singh, Vice-Chancellor, National Law University for his significant & influential work, along with augmentation in his respective field. Ten marquee Chancellor’s Gold Medals, eleven Rankers certificates, one PhD & one Award Certificate to elites & meritorious students by Hon'ble Governor Her Excellency Smt. Anandiben Patel was presented.

Greeting the audience at the University premises, Prof. (Dr.) Anoop Swarup, Vice Chancellor, Jagran Lakecity University spread his yearnings to the students saying “We are poised that our students shall be competent to suffice all the hurdles faced by them. Our convocation reflects JLU’s efforts in shaping future experts who will endeavour to bring about a concrete change around them,” The graduation students vouched to brace the noble cause of national development, rational pursuance’s, morals, courage and hard work and the need to sustain justice, authority and the capital of natural resources.

The Chief Guest and Hon'ble Governor Her Excellency Smt. Anandiben Patel felicitated the disciples on attaining another milestone in their lives. She emphasized to remain associated with the research work and to move forth by reading biographies of the great personalities. She further told the students to utilize their education to serve the nation. The Governor stated that the erudite institutions established by the Great personalities of the country have proven themselves beneficial in their objectives even now. She advised youth to connect and work in rural areas. Furthermore, she pushed universities of the state to disseminate education in rural regions as well.

Shri. Hari Mohan Gupta, Chancellor, Jagran Lakecity University praised the students and parents in his address. JLU Bhopal, in a short span of five years, is reckoned as one of the elite institutions of central India. It is the consequence of exceptional alliance and unrivalled resolution determined by the members of the JLU family. He ended with a note to the graduating students saying “sincerity, courage, probity and trustworthiness are the only laws that would enhance us as a nation”.

Science Olympiad 2018: The art of simplifying Learning for a Brilliant tomorrow.

JLU School of Engineering and Technology (SoET) organized a "Science Olympiad" on November 30^th. The Olympiad was conducted with the mission to foster stronger relationships among different schools across Bhopal and exchange of scientific skills. The competition was held in two categories: Quiz and Working Model Presentation. In Quiz Competition, Akshat Chopra from Delhi Public School, Kolar Road Bhopal bagged the first prize whereas second prize was secured by Lavish Sonbhurra from Model School, Bhopal.

Reading in details about the working model presentation, numerous innovative models were roffered by the students. Amongst them, team XANTHIUM-256 from Delhi Public School, Bhopal comprising of Nayshreyash Umrao, Aaryaman Pratap Singh and Aaryan Moorthy seized the first prize. In their model, they had designed a robot based surveillance system which was prepared using E-Waste. The second prize was achieved by a team from Delhi Public School Kolar Road Bhopal comprising of Aditya Sai Vardhan and Saket Dwaraka for their blind eye based model.

The winners were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 11000/- and a trophy. The runner-ups were awarded by a cash prize of Rs. 7000/- and trophy. Furthermore, the students who secured third and fourth positions were awarded consolation prizes.  

Tuning India Project 2017-2020

Jagran Lakecity University is a participating University in ERASMUS+ programme under the Tuning India Project, funded by the European Commission. ERASMUS (EuRopean Community Action Scheme for Mobility of University Students) programme is a student exchange programme established in 1987 in the name of Desiderius Erasmus (1469-1536) of Rotterdam, one of Europe’s greatest thinkers and most influential scholars who defined the Humanistic Movement in Northern Europe.  The programme involves 28 European Union partner countries and 24 non-EU participating countries, India being one of them. Tuning India Project is a three-year project (2017-2020) and involves 15 Universities of India, 4 European universities from Spain, Belgium, Netherlands & Ireland along with an NGO ‘Education for an Interdependent World’, operating from Rome. The Tuning India Project aims to synchronize the curricula in the fields of Medicine, ICT, Law and Teacher Education offered in India with curricula of global Universities by defining the expected competencies and the evidence that reflect defined learning outcomes. Such curricula need to be implemented with creative activities for training.

Prof. R. Nesamoorthy, Registrar, Jagran Lakecity University, Prof. Yogendra Shrivastava, Director, JLU School of Law and Dr Yasmin Ghani Khan, Director, JLU School of Education represents Jagran Lakecity University in the field of ICT, Law & Teacher Education. They attended the first general meeting of the project in May 2018 where the general and specific competencies expected in professionals graduating from Indian universities were defined; thereafter a survey was conducted to ascertain the ranking and rating of the competencies by students, graduates, academics and employers. Based on the survey results each subject group had to develop competency clubbed meta-profiles of professionals in the specified areas during the second general meeting held in Tuning Academy, Deusto University, Bilbao, Spain on 19-23 November 2018.

It is worth mentioning that Jagran lakecity University is the only University from Central India in this project, participating in 3 academic disciplines viz. Law, ICT and Teacher education. Prof. R. Nesamoorthy and Dr Yasmin Ghani Khan are the coordinators for the ICT and Teacher Education groups i.e. 2 out of 4 academic areas of Tuning India Project. JLU School of Science & Technology and JLU School of Education has been identified as implementing institutions for the pilot programme in the area of ICT and Teacher Education.

National Education Day 2018- Juvenile Delinquency: Issues & Concerns.

JLU School of Education commemorated National Education Day 2018 by conducting a Seminar on ‘Juvenile Delinquency: Issues & Concerns’ with the in objective ‘Identification for Early Intervention’ before a child loses his/her innocence to the harsh realities of life today on 13th November 2018. This event honours the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the first Education Minister of Independent India and a firm believer of humanism and inclusion.

Dr Yasmin Ghani Khan, Director, JLU School of Education greeted the guests and set the session moving by the statement ‘children grow up and return to the world, what they get from their family, school and society’. She asked student teachers to find solutions to the problem of deteriorating value systems, instead of complaining and blaming.

Mr Amarjeet Kumar Singh, UNESCO Project Officer for Aarambh & Child Line Activist, discussed the legal clauses for framing charges on adults who misguide children to indulge into crimes which may be minor to heinous while they remain free to ruin other immature minds. He also informed the future teachers about the dos & don’ts when a crime occurs in or near the school premises by stressing on the phrases ‘ignorance cannot be an excuse for innocence’ & ‘not reporting a crime makes you an accomplice, too’.  He discussed many case studies and positive tales of rehabilitated CCLs or ‘Children in Conflict with Law’.

Dr Anupama Maheswari, Director, Aadhar Centre for Counseling discussed more case studies and engaged the future teachers in diagnosing possible reasons of deviance & how to handle situations. She highlighted the fact that usually, the problem is graver with parents rather than children. She suggested that a short-term course on ‘Counseling Parents’ should be developed for teachers, to help in changing the mindset issues of parents for accepting the aptitudes & interests of their own children. This will reduce performance pressure on tender minds, which are among the main reasons for deviant behaviour observed in children and adolescents.  

The faculty and pupil-teachers participated actively making the seminar a successful, springing for more interactive sessions on ‘Observing Child Behavior for Early Interventions’ where ever needed.  

National workshop on “Optimization Techniques in Science and Engineering Applications 2018"

The induction program for two days National Workshop on "Optimization Techniques in Science and Engineering Applications (OTSEA-2018)" organized by JLU School of Engineering and Technology was held on 15th November 2018. The inaugural program was graced by Dr Avanish Kumar Srivastava Director CSIR-AMPRI, Dr Kamal Raj Pardasani  Professor MANIT Bhopal, Dr Mukul Shukla Professor  MNNIT Allahabad and Dr Trilok Singh Bisoniya Director JLU SoET.

Dr Bisoniya formally welcomed all the dignitaries present on the dais and participants from Madhya Pradesh & various other parts of the country including IIT-BHU, colleagues & students. He enlightened the significance of the workshop and its intentions with regards to providing a platform for the participants to learn and share the knowledge gathered through the teachings delivered by eminent speakers and discussions with the practitioners.

Furthermore, chief guest of the occasion Dr Avanish Kumar Srivastava Director CSIR-AMPRI addressed the gathering and expressed his gratitude towards JLU SoET for hosting a program in the research field.

Onto the scientific session, Dr Mukul Shukla Professor  MNNIT Allahabad conversed about the basics of optimization techniques and their importance in mathematics, computer science and operations research. He stressed on various optimization methods which are trending now. Sharing hands-on experiences with the participants in MATLAB he revealed and demonstrated various optimization tools available for the optimum utilization. 

Scavenger Hunt : Raid @SEH

Scavenger Hunt: Raid @SEH was organised by JLU Student Service Cell on 14th November 2018 at Jagran Lakecity University as both a team-building and knowledge-enhancing exercise. JLU congratulates the 150+ students who participated in this year's Scavenger Hunt, and thanks all of the moderators for being instrumental in a smooth execution of the event. This year we had 25 teams competing, where "Team #2" with an overwhelming score of 570 points, won the title of Scavenger Hunt 2018. 

This photo/video-based scavenger hunt had landed students to environment & sustainability-themed points of interest across campus. In the spirit of discovery, participants uncovered a plethora of new information, resources, and an interactive ambience which the university has to offer, all while vying for exciting prizes and the JLU goodies.
