TEDx at Jagran Lakecity University


India’s brilliant minds came together under one roof to discuss diversity in culture and the power of change at the TEDx event organized by Jagran Lakecity University on Saturday, 25th January 2020. The world was viewed through the kaleidoscope of ten speakers as they encapsulated their thoughts in the most innovative way and raised the bar a notch higher,  with their ideas worth spreading. 
The event was aimed to imbibe the listeners with maturity and wisdom. 


The benevolent speakers came from diverse fields and have been the torchbearer in their respective areas. The intuitive session kicked off where the first speaker was Dr. Madhavi  Shankar. She is the co-founder and CEO of SpaceBasic Inc.  The session was followed by Mr. Anand Rathi, who runs one of India’s leading wedding film and photography companies, Reels and frames. Anand Rathi covered the wedding of Akash Ambani and Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor. His entrepreneurial journey spurred the audience and inculcated the desire of ‘Making career out of your passion’. 



Ms. Aarti Sinha, the first lady gong healer in Central India took over the mike for the third session. The fourth speaker was Mr. Pradeep Ghosh, founder of OASiS- A social Innovation Lab which focuses on innovating new approaches and models for social development.  After a short talk on humanity, the session was sparked again with the talk of Mr. Vibhas Sen, Head of Brand and Digital at Ellemnetry and Lucy Plummer, who is a strong advocate of youth education, emphasized  the fact‘Humanity and Kindness is the most important aspect of mankind’



The second half of TEDx had a wide array of another four speakers including Dr. Rajendra Singh, renowned river rejuvenator,  CA Paresh Gupta, Founder and CEO of Global Centre for Entrepreneurship  and Commerce, Ms. Kanika Tekriwal, CEO at JetSetGo Aviation Services Pvt Ltd and Mr. Nemesh Singh, Founder, and CEO, Appointy.com Based on the theme of ‘Igniting Minds Changing Lives’ the event was successful in producing an incredible energy of excitement among the youth for the edification of a strong foundation.

JLU and ImaginXP collaborate to announce Design Programs in User Experience


Jagran Lakecity University, and India’s leading UX Design and Design Thinking certification organization, ImaginXP  have announced the start of 4-year Bachelor of Design and 2-year Master of Design in User Experience (UX)programs. Along with these two full-time programs, we are also introducing an industry-led certification program in Futuristic Design. The two full-time programs and the certification programs are specifically designed in collaboration with industry experts and allow students to work on real-life design problems with the industry. These courses will be taught by industry experts, practicing UX Designers, and experienced faculty in the field of UX Design. The content for these courses is designed keeping in mind the prevalent need of the industry. The course ensures the students get valuable experience and are readily employed by the end of the course.   


UX Design is the process of creating digital products by focusing on meaningful and personal experiences. It is a field that encompasses education in design and technology to bring out easy to use mobile apps, web products. They also create digital devices that integrate emerging new technologies such as Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, IoT, etc based apps. UX Designers focus on digitalization and designing digital products that are needed by all industry segments, including leading I.T. services, product and consulting organizations, financial services, banking, insurance, media, education, and hospitality industries. User Experience (UX) Design plays a big role in gaining customer loyalty to a brand and thus businesses are giving more attention to their UX Design Strategy. Jagran Lakecity University and  ImaginXP aims at bridging the gap of trained resources in this segment. The government’s emphasis on Digital India and the 100 smart city projects, has also resulted in an increased demand for highly skilled and creative digital roles, a need that can be met by UX Designers. 


These courses are open to students of all streams for graduate or post-graduate courses. To apply, the minimum eligibility score required is 50% in their 12th board exam or at graduation. Jagran Lakecity University will be providing this course in the newly launched Jagran School of Visual Art and Design. With a state of the art infrastructure, JLU is the perfect place for students to learn this world-class industry-led course in user experience. UX Design education is currently the most sought after field, and till now, it was taught only at institutes such as IIT and NID. With the right industry collaboration, Jagran Lakecity University is making this course available to their students, that too at a reasonable cost.

JLU Pinning Ceremony 2020


One hundred and twenty-Eight students across various faculty of JagranLakecity University were invested with duties as Class Representatives for academic session 2019-20. A solemn occasion, the ceremony began with the selected CRs being seated in formal blazers along with all students and members of faculty at a brightly sunlit day at lush green campus at JagranLakecity University Bhopal.


Honorable Minister for Urban Development, Shri Jaivardhan Singh was the Chief Guest for the occasion. He presented the designated students with a special recognition badge and encouraged them to continue doing the good work. He also assured support from the government in extending the efforts of the students at the University towards betterment of the student community, to the society in general so that the whole civic set up can benefit from various initiatives.


Jagran Lakecity University has a robust young leadership framework, which not only includes Class representatives system but various national & international young leadership mentoring programmes annually.

Shri. Hari Mohan Gupta, Chancellor, Jagran Lakecity University, while sharing the vision, said, “ Leaders are not made in a day. Our world, now more than ever, needs people who go the way and show the way. Universities and the education system contribute immensely towards this agenda and have an ethical accountability to develop sensitivities& leadership in students who go on to becoming responsible citizens and bring about the change we all want to see. JagranLakecity University has been a trendsetter and a pioneer in bringing about new concepts and ideas.”He advised new Class representatives to be leaders and not just administrators.


The ceremony ended with a huge round of applause for the new appointees as well with an oath, where the students pledged to constantly strive for and contribute to the growth of their university, society, and nation.

Our Own Campus Radio - Lakecity Voice


Jagran Lakecity University launched its very own campus radio station under the initiatives of Jagran School of Journalism and Communication at Shree Gurudev Gupta Media Studios, Chandanpura campus, Bhopal. The aim of launching this radio station is to provide students with an exposure to industry and make them aware of the working of radio stations. The students will be mentored by renowned RJ Pinky has more than ten years of experience in this industry. 


This radio station is open for the students of all departments. They can come and learn the working of radio station
Honorable Chancellor Shree Hari Mohan Gupta, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Shree Abhishek Mohan Gupta, deans, and directors along with faculty fraternity were present at the launch of the radio station. Speaking on this launch, Honorable chancellor expressed his ecstasy and congratulated the team of the Lakecity Voice. He said “It brings me immense pleasure to see the young generation coming forward and building a career from a wide range of platforms and out of their interest. We ensure to provide a holistic approach methodology that provides every student an opportunity to equip oneself with the right tools and to analyze industry trend and scenario” Initially the radio has come up with three shows i.e. Campus, coffee and class; second ‘Bajabox’ and the third is ‘Storyboard’ which comprises of the stories written by the students of JLU. 
Another interesting thing about this radio channel is that the students of JLU is the producer, editor, copywriter and content curator who has been working hard to successfully run this channel.  
Various Celebrities including Filmmaker Ashok Pandit, Actor Jimmy Shergil, Master Chef Kunal Kapur, Singer/Composer Salim Merchant, Actress Ananya Pandey, Bollywood playback singer Aamantrikha  have shared their wishes with the team ‘Lakecity Voice’. New Year Comes with New Bliss

The bright sunshine and mild winds stir the leaves afresh at JLU as the New Year descends with new bliss. Where fog and mist engulfed the lush green campus, the pyramid gleefully basked in pride as 2019 turned out to be yet another amazing year for the JLU family. The year unfolded many new things and paved the way for a tremendous opportunity for the students. The University signed important Memorandum of Understanding with prominent foundations such as, in the month of March  HTWG Konstanz, Germany and JLU signed MoU to integrate across various academic, research and career opportunities. In the month of April, The University signed MoU with Global Education Management Services (GEMS) UK to get students International favor of the Hospitality Industry, cultural exchange, and internship opportunities. Another feather was added in our cap during this month as JLU  was announced as the 'only Private University of Central India to be featured amongst India's 100 Best Universities 2019'. In the month of May, JLU was ranked number 1 Private University in MP by Education World Rankings.


The university announced the collaboration with Indian Chef, Kunal Kapur as Chief Mentor of JLU School of Hospitality & Tourism. In the same month, Jagran School of Journalism and Communication was ranked amongst the Top 30 Media and Journalism School of India and Top 3 in the country for Male-Female Ratio by India Today. The month of June came with more colors as JLU won at Education World Higher Education Awards 2019 and ranked No. 1 in Madhya Pradesh. Our Honorable Pro-Chancellor, Abhishek Mohan Gupta featured in the 10th Anniversary issue of career 360 magazine. The new academic session kicked off this month which was followed by Orientation and Induction sessions. During this month, the University signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding with Cambridge Assessment English. In the month of August JLU collaborated with Witty Feed and launched 'JLU WittyFeed Centre for New Media'. The month also witnessed another collaboration with the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru. The University signed another MoU with Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and National Stock Exchange Academy (wholly-owned subsidiary of National Stock Exchange of India Ltd.)



A lot of University events, panel discussions,  symposiums took place throughout the year. Prominent guest speakers visited the university throughout the year such as Bryan Davis (Dean, California Baptist University, CBU) Craig Eggleton (MD, EdLink), Jawwad Patel (Indian Inventor, scientist, and social innovator) Prof Peter Kuznick (Professor of History and Director, Nuclear Studies, Institute at American University) Shri Bharat P. Maheshwari, Law officer to the Governor of Madhya Pradesh, Mr. Varun Sood, (Head of Academic Alliance, Comp TIA) to name a few. This year, Chef Kunal Kapur visited the University campus and judged the competition of Super Chef Junior. He also conducted a Master Class for the students of the School of Hospitality and Tourism. During this year JLU also inaugurated two major centres - JLU Centre for Public Policy & Governance and JLU Centre for Excellence in CSR. The University organized the National Roundtable Meet where experts and leaders came together to discuss the potential of these two sectors. JLU also launched its own campus radio - Lakecity Voice. The radio station will be solely driven by the students. In the month of December, the University celebrated its fifth Convocation ceremony where 519 UG and PG students received their degrees. The University conferred Honoris Causa to Dr. N Radhakrishnan, Chairman, Indian Council of Gandhian Studies and Chef Manjit Singh Gill, Corporate Executive Chef, ITC Hotels. The event was followed by the celebration of forth alumni meet which witnessed reunion of alumni with their Alma Mater. 2019 was indeed a year of many achievements. We look forward to have an amazing 2020!
