Igniting Mind Lecture Series by Prof. (Dr.) Peter Kuznick


Jagran Lakecity University, School of Law organized an Igniting Minds lecture by Prof. (Dr.) Peter Kuznick, Professor of History and Director, Nuclear Studies Institute at American University on October 15, 2019. Prof. Kuznick enlightened the gathering on ‘Armed threats in the present world scenario’. Peter Kuznizk and Oliver Stone co-authored the book titled 'The Untold Story of the United States'
He discussed America’s ‘Nuclear Posture View’ and policies of various USA Presidents on Nuclear Arms. He also talked about the future possibility of ‘Unipolar Era’ where he claimed that the USA will become the dictator of the world as it refuses to live in a multi-polar world. Prof. Kuznick examined the role of developing economies in policies related to nuclear arms.





He commented on the conflict in various parts of the world which is posing a threat of a nuclear outburst. He ended his speech addressing many environmental issues and raised his deep concerns over global warming and nuclear winter. Students got the opportunity to interact with Prof. Kuznick on contemporary geopolitical issues

JLU bags award at NLIU Sports Fest, Bhopal

Jagran Lakecity University, School of Law emerged victorious at Virudhaka 2019, the annual sports fest of National Law Institute University, Bhopal. JLU-SOL bagged a total of 28 medals which include 8 Gold medals, 18 Silver medals, and 1 Bronze medal. We topped the medal tally and were awarded as the Best Team. The medals were scored in Basketball, Swimming, Table Tennis and Athletics.




To mark this momentous event, JLU-SOL organized a ceremony to celebrate the victory. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Honorable Chancellor Shri Hari Mohan Gupta, Honorable Pro-Chancellor Shri Abhishek Mohan Gupta, Registrar Prof. (Dr.) Vivek Khare, Deputy Registrar Shri Pankaj Das and  Dean (Student Welfare) and Director, School of Law Prof. (Dr.) Yogendra Srivastava. Honorable Chancellor addressed the entire student of the body of JLU School of Law and motivated them with his remarkable words.
He congratulated the winners and inspired them to work hard and go beyond the barriers. Honorable Pro-Chancellor also expressed his delight and wished the students a bright and flourishing career

We congratulate all the winners and participant on this glorious feat and wish them all the very best in their future endeavors.

International Day of The Girl Girl Child


‘Educate a man and you educate an individual. Educate a woman and you educate a family’ as rightly said, Jagran Lakecity University celebrated ‘International Day of the Girl Child’ under the initiative of JLU social volunteering club. It is one of the many initiatives that have taken to uphold the girls of society across the globe. Every year, this day is celebrated worldwide to showcase the empowerment of the girl child. Dr. Somya Dwivedi, Chief Radiologist and Managing Partner at Qura Diagnostics & Research Centre delivered a special lecture especially for the female students of JLU.


It is important for us to explore the gender notion of space and look at the intersectional manifestations of gender bias. Every girl should be aware of her rights such as education, nutrition, forced child marriage, legal rights, and medical rights. The woman needs to be empowered by other women only, and society as a whole. The women who support each other are the women who grow together. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Somya Dwivedi, said ‘Woman is the core essence of life and it’s fortunate we are born as one. Right from the start, women have so many roles to play thus it is very important to create awareness for a healthier and more progressive society. Raising awareness through effective programs of education carves away to women’s attainment of healthy and fulfilling lives and improves the status of women in their decision-making capacities’ During her interaction with the students, she spoke on Women's
health issues and its awareness such as PCOD, Cervical Cancer, Feminine Hygiene, etc. On this occasion, the female students at JLU formed a human chain and pledged to create awareness and opportunity for women and girls to achieve their potential.

Jagran Lakecity University celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi


The ideology of Mahatma Gandhi was brought to light at Jagran Lakecity University where all the staff and faculty members gathered to celebrate his 150th birth anniversary. A live telecast of Honorable Chief Minister, Mr. Kamal Nath’s message was broadcast at the University Auditorium. Prof (Dr.) Anoop Swarup, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Vivek Khare, Registrar, Prof. Dr. Yogendra Kumar Srivastava, Dean Student Welfare and Director, School of Law along with faculty and staff members took a pledge to come forward and contribute to Swachh Bharat Mission and propagate Gandhiji’s principles.







‘Gandhian ideals and ideas are in sync with ground realities and are neither utopian nor impractical to execute. They deserve a trail on the economic front too considering his revolutionary and scientific approach. Let us imagine and envision the future of the country on Gandhian lines to realize the India of Gandhi’s dreams’, said Prof Dr. Anoop Swaroop, Vice-Chancellor, JLU whose books on Mahatma Gandhi have been published to national acclaim. Mahatma Gandhi, a prolific writer had inspired millions of people during his lifetime and continues to inspire people around the globe. The fundamental postulates of Mahatma Gandhi provide new insights to a wide range of readers, scholars, social activists, policymakers as he always spoke and understood the language of the masses.

Master Class by Chef Kunal Kapur

The very talented and nationally renowned Chef Kunal Kapur conducted a Master Class which was highly anticipated by the students and staff members of Jagran Lakecity University. 

 The highlight of the event was ‘food, Flavour and Presentation’ where the master chef threw light on various approaches of presenting food such as New Nordic, Linear and plating and saucing approach. The culinary connoisseurs spoke on the various aspects which one faces right from the preparation to presentation of fine dining cuisines.








 ‘To satiate your palate one must have proper knowledge of flavor and presentation techniques. Bring on the passion of creating exotic cuisine for palatable delight and the food which whets your appetite’ said the chef. Some of the techniques which left the students awestruck where – Wipe and Drag, The classic swoosh, Glass Bottom, Spiral, Semi Circle and Splash the sauce which were done practically by the students.





The unique collaboration of JLU School of Hospitality and Tourism and Chef Kunal Kapur will benefit students with a plethora of knowledge as they will be mentored by the chef through his special classes and visits to the university campus. Commenting on the initiative, Prof. Nafees Naqvi, Director, Jagran School of Journalism and Communication said,



 “We are delighted to have such a unique collaboration where the students will be mentored by a chef who comes such vast expanse of knowledge” Students also had question-answer round with the chef where they asked him  about  his series Pickle Nation, Curries of India and many more.

Super Chef Junior: The culinary art competition


Two day culinary art competition culminated in announcing the winners at Jagran Lakecity University. The ceremony brought to a close the 3rd edition of Super Chef Junior competition in which students from top public and private schools participated. Celebrity Chef Kunal Kapur, who is also the brand ambassador of Jagran School of Hospitality and Tourism, was the judge of the final round.  Shivek Jhanda and Chitransh Sadhwani from DPS Neelbad were declared the winners, closely followed by Pragya Nair and Ravi Vichitra from Sanskar Valley School as the first runners up.  Parthsarthi Verma and Anidita from DPS Kolar were adjudged the second runners up.


Thirty different teams competed in exciting rounds and the
top six teams made their way to the finale. The students prepared various dishes like Strawberry Margherita, Apple Biryani, Cheerios, Burrito Pockets with Salsa, Death by Chocolate, Shikari Chicken to name a few. Chef Kunal Kapur addressed the students at JLU saying, “In order to excel in this competition, you would have spent months refining your culinary skills.  To make it this far you had to demonstrate to your tutors your ability to produce an edible dish using correct cooking techniques while maintaining proper sanitation habits all the while generating a final product of high quality and exceptional flavor. It’s heartening to see such efforts being made by JLU to elevate culinary art among children”



Judgments for the first and second of the competition was done by noted chefs like Chef Ravish Mishra – Courtyard by Marriot, Chef Jeewan Singh – Executive Chef, Hotel  Jehan Numa Palace, and Chef A.K Singh – HOD IHM Bhopal

National Roundtable Meet on 'Nurturing an Ecosystem for Social Impact'


Jagran Lakecity University organized a Round Table consultation of experts, practitioners, policymakers, civil servants, academicians, and NGOs, on “Nurturing an Ecosystem for Social Impact”. The aim of the Round Table consultations was to discuss and deliberate on the potential of public policy and CSR as drivers of Social Change and the multifarious nature of the domains of public policy and CSR. The deliberations pointed to the way ahead, conceptually and operationally, and called for deep thinking and updating policies that are evidence-based and impactful along with the periodic reviews of status and progress vis-à-vis global benchmarks. It also indicated areas where new policies will enable the State to better cater to the needs of citizens from all levels.

JLU also formally launched two major Centres within the university viz JLU Centre for Public Policy & Governance and JLU Centre for Excellence in CSR.  The key vision of these Centres is to promote high-quality teaching and research in the fields of CSR, Public Policy, Governance and Administration. 

Speaking as a panellist during the plenary session, Shri Hari Mohan Gupta, Chancellor Jagran Lakecity University said “Clearly India must do its part in creating mechanisms that lead to a more equitable social impact on people. Thus Public Policies and CSR initiatives by corporate and Society needs to be credible and sound and entail a roadmap to achieve the goals. With this roundtable and the launch of Centres, JLU intends to focus on citizen-centric public policy and CSR research and education”.Well known experts and leaders like Mr Manish Shanker Sharma, IPS Additional Director General of Police, Mr Manu Srivastava, IAS, Principal Secretary, Renewable energy and Commercial Tax, Ms.Veena Bandyopadhyay, Social Policy Specialist, UNICEF, Mrs Maya Maheshwari, IRS Faculty, RCVP, Bhopal, Dr Alok Misra, Professor, MDI, Gurgaon, Dr Y Suresh Reddy, Lead CSR and Director, SRF Foundation, Dr Neelam Gupta, President, AROH Foundation, Shri Satya Prakash Mangal, Director, NHPC,  and Dr Vineeta Dutta Roy
, Associate Professor and Head CSR, BIMTECC spoke around various thematic tracks like  ‘Mainstreaming the marginalized through education’, ‘Shifts in the public relations to the policymaking process’, ‘Imperatives of Public Policy in the age of social media’ Citizen centric Administration topic: Accessibility, Accountability and Transparency  and Impact Driven CSR: Innovative, Collaborative and Sustainable
The credo of Jagran Lakecity university ‘Igniting Minds changing Lives’ came alive through this roundtable meet where possibilities of bringing a change was explored.  The panel came up with many exciting ideas as to how we can progress with the mechanism of Public Policy and CSR.

Igniting mind lecture titled ‘Changing Lives through Research and Innovation’ organized by JLU - School of Engineering and Technology


JLU School of Engineering and Technology organized an Igniting mind lecture titled ‘Changing Lives through Research and Innovation’. The Lecture was delivered by Mr. Jawwad Patel, innovator and research scientist. The enthralling session was graced with the presence of Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Anoop Swarup, Registrar Prof. Dr. Vivek Khare, Faculties, and students.

'We should always strive to work for the people of our nation, India and for its progress in the field of Science and Technology. We should innovate and invent according to the problems and situations that the rural and urban people face in their daily lives. People should identify ways to make lives of our countrymen better through their social innovations and inventions' shared Mr. Patel, who is



 the recipient of National Award Excellence in Research and Innovation from Government of India – The Highest Civilian Award for Youth in India and The Diana Award for Social Innovations from Government of the United Kingdom. He further added that observation plays a very important role in our life. He said, 'Each of us should be an absolute observer as we have the whole world in need to be corrected. People should think beyond the normal'. Mr. Patel also told about some of his inventions so far, i.e. Dewdrop, Epidermus, Agritech, Solar car, IoT, Non-Invasive Glucose-meter, etc. are all serving the purpose of creating a positive social impact in both the urban and rural society and changing lives.
